Stakeholders can influence your projects in many ways, both positively and negatively. We must therefore be able to actively manage them.
Here are the important steps for effective stakeholder management.
1. List all stakeholders
The first step is to identify the stakeholders who may influence or be impacted by your project, for example a neighbor. Once the list is complete, add contact information, title, department, organization and their role in the project.2. Categorize the stakeholders
Subsequently, the stakeholders must be categorized according to 3 main categories, namely whether they have direct, indirect community involvement (observers / regulatory).
3. Create the stakeholders matrix
The matrix allows to classify the stakeholders in one of the quadrants according to their power / influence and interests.

4. Communications
In the stakeholder register, add the results from the stakeholder matrix. Information such as preferred communication methods, expectations, all relevant information.
Prioritizing projects is beneficial for any organization, whatever its shape or size, because it allows you to prioritize your project work optimized and aligned with the organisation’s strategy.

The roles and responsibilities matrix (RACI) as well as the communication plan complete the list of tools for effective management of stakeholders.
